Italian tire company Pirelli is one of the big 5 of tire manufacturers around the world. The company produces a wide range of high performance bike and car tires.
The company was launched in 1872 in Milan by 24 year old engineer Giovanni Battista Pirelli. The first facility for the manufacture of rubber products was up and running within a year of its launch. Today Pirelli has a presence in more than 160 countries with 22 tire manufacturing facilities worldwide and a staff strength of over 37,000 employees.

Having been involved in motor racing since 1907, Pirelli is recognized as one of the leading manufacturers of high-end and performance tyres. The company is the exclusive tyre manufacturer for the 2011-2013 Formula 1 championship seasons and for several World Superbike Championships.

Throughout its history, Pirelli has focused on innovation and improvement, investing about 3% of its revenues every year on research and development. This is among the highest levels of research investment in the tyre industry. The company’s goal is to constantly strive to improve the quality of Pirelli products in terms of safety and performance.
