How do you see your windshield wipers? Do you see them as just an occasional necessity to be switched on only when it rains? Most car owners do. However, windshield wipers are more than that. They are in fact an integral part of road safety and qualify for just as much care and attention as any other vehicle part. The wipers keep the windshield clear of water, snow and bugs, allowing you to have unobstructed vision of the road ahead at all times.

When they are not in use, the wipers are completely ignored and overlooked even though they are in plain sight at all times when you are driving. The problem with this is, when you do need them and you switch them on, the odds are high that they will just move across the glass causing a messy smear in their wake and obstructing your clear vision. This seemingly small hiccup could have far reaching consequences very quickly.

Why wait for this to happen?  The wiper blades are made of rubber, which tends to lose their flexibility in the heat and sun, causing them to become brittle and break. Cracked wiper blades are not effective and are in fact dangerous as they reduce your vision even more.  Preventing this is simple- change the wiper blades regularly. At Orleans AutoPro, we recommend that you change the wiper blades every 6 to 12 months. Most blade arms accept rubber refills so you do not have to replace the whole wiper blade assembly unless the blade arms are bent.

Is your wiper streaking? Don’t wait for it to get worse. Get your car over to Orleans AutoPro and we’ll do the needful so you stay safe on the roads.
