General Tire was established in 1915 by Winfred Fouse and William O’Neil, two young businessmen from Ohio.. At that time there were over 300 tire manufacturing companies so to sidestep the massive competition, the founding partners decided to focus on a premium replacement tire instead of the original equipment market. This led to the launch of the oversized General Jumbo and other pneumatic truck tires. Aggressive marketing and business savvy quickly catapulted the company as the top ranked tire manufacturer in the industry.
Over the years, the ambitious engineers at General Tire focused on truck tires coming up several different innovative and much needed products specifically for truck tires. The rubber mud flap for truck tires is one such product. Another was a complete line of low pressure truck tire balloons.
Today, General Tire is committed to continuing the tradition of offering a complete range of high quality performance and passenger tires as well as off-road, light truck and commercial tires.
